Location: Felletin, Limousin, France
Facilities: Child Friendly, Vegetarian Menu, Sleeps up to 12
We offer traditional French chambres d'hôtes with a touch of luxury, in the heart of a pretty market town. We have 2 large, beautiful rooms, with private bath or shower rooms, at reasonable prices and a self-contained apartment which sleeps 4 people. We can provide guests with delicious vegetarian evening meals. There are also several restaurants nearby in Felletin and within a short drive away in Aubusson.
The main house has been restored, retaining original features and adding carefully selected antique furniture. It is thought that the building was a presbytery house and was built in the 18th century, the fireplace in Chambre 1 is dated 1761. Parts of the house may date back further, as it is built on the site of one of the four gates to the medieval fortified town.
Many of our dishes are (or can be made) vegan. We use local, seasonal, organic produce (wherever possible) in our delicious evening meals.
We have a range of wines & other beverages to accompany your meals.
Felletin is easily accessible by road, train, bus or plane (Limoges & Clermont Ferrand airports are about 100km away)
La Creuse is still unspoiled and is an ideal place for a relaxing break. Felletin is a beautiful town, steeped in history, ideally situated to explore the Limousin and Auvergne regions.
Felletin is the gateway to the plateau de Millevaches, a national park, and is surrounded by beautiful countryside, forests and lakes. La Creuse is a great destination for walkers, and cyclists and, due to it's year round beauty, photographers. There are 2 equestrian centres in Felletin and skiing at Le Mont Dore is about an hour and a half away.
The water in Felletin is eau de source, so the water from the taps is the same as you buy in bottles... no chemicals, this comes straight from the mountains. It is this water that helps provide Fellis with it's lovely flavour – this beer, suitable for vegans, is brewed in a microbrewery in the town.
The town hosts a world music and dance festival and many other fêtes throughout the year, as well as hosting a bustling market every Friday.
The town square and quiet cobbled streets have everything you need: cafés, bars, restaurants, pharmacists, bakers, two small (but well stocked and reasonable) supermarkets, banks, gift shops, estate agents and a tourist information office. There is also a larger supermarket on the town outskirts.
